DIZ-CONCERTO

A live-recording chamber music performance by the Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble with works by Portuguese composers together with texts and poems by Portuguese writers, following on the tradition of such works as “Peter and the Wolf” by Prokofiev, or “Carnaval des Animaux”  by Saint-Saëns.

A musical and scenic space that joins a reciter to the instruments of the ensemble aimed at conveying new music to the youngsters.

Among the composers featured in this disc, you’ll find both established names side by side with a new generation of emerging composers. All the works in this disc were commissioned by the Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble and are world première recordings.

SOND’AR-TE ELECTRIC ENSEMBLE

Founded in July 2007, the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble is an innovative performance project in the contemporary European music scene in that it structurally combines acoustic instruments with electroacoustic means and computer music. It comprises a new generation of Portuguese instrumentalists of excellence, all of whom are renowned soloists, to whom the cutting-edge musical technology has been associated, which over many years of research and experience has been developed by Miso Studio of Miso Music Portugal.

Alongside the development and interpretation of a new repertoire, the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble also bases its practice on the important existing repertoire for its core formation, with the interpretation of some of the emblematic works that span the musical history of the XX and XXI centuries. It should also be mentioned, as a central point of the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble's activity, the commission program for new musical works (47 new works commissioned between 2007 and 2020), the international composition contest, the forum for young composers, the development of musical theater projects and also several pedagogical projects and awareness for new audiences.

Since its foundation, the Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble has performed in dozens of concerts, all over the world, from Canada to Japan, with a regular presence at important European festivals and concert halls.
