Lançamento da World New Music Magazine n.º 31, 2025, dedicado a Portugal na Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian

A Miso Music Portugal e o MIC.PT, em parceria com o CESEM – Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical, apresentam a World New Music Magazine n.º 31, 2025, uma edição dedicada a Portugal, publicada pela International Society for Contemporary Music — ISCM, no dia 19 de Junho de 2026, às 18h00, no Auditório 3 da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, em Lisboa.

Acolhido pela Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, o lançamento incluirá uma mesa-redonda moderada por Pedro Boléo, reunindo autores e colaboradores da publicação em torno da questão:

“O que é novo na música portuguesa?”

Publicada na sequência dos ISCM World New Music Days 2025, realizados pela primeira vez em Portugal, esta edição reúne ensaios, reflexões e testemunhos de compositores, intérpretes, investigadores e agentes culturais. Mais do que propor uma visão única, apresenta uma pluralidade de perspectivas sobre a criação musical contemporânea em Portugal, os seus desenvolvimentos recentes, práticas, contextos e ressonâncias internacionais.

A revista foi editada por Magnus Bunnskog, editor-chefe da World New Music Magazine. A parceria com o CESEMreflecte a forte presença da investigação e da reflexão crítica nesta publicação, que conta com contributos de vários dos seus membros.

A mesa-redonda evitará apresentações individuais de cada artigo, abrindo antes uma conversa mais ampla sobre as questões artísticas, estéticas, institucionais e sociais que moldam a criação musical em Portugal hoje. A pergunta “O que é novo na música portuguesa?” servirá de fio condutor para discutir linguagens em transformação, práticas de escuta, relações com a tecnologia, circulação, memória e o lugar da música portuguesa em contextos internacionais mais vastos.

A publicação bilingue foi possível graças ao apoio financeiro da ISCM, da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e da DGArtes — Direcção-Geral das Artes.

O lançamento será simultaneamente a apresentação pública da revista em Portugal e uma oportunidade de diálogo entre criação, investigação e pensamento crítico.

Launch of World New Music Magazine #31, 2025 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation

Miso Music Portugal and MIC.PT, in partnership with CESEM – Centre for the Study of the Sociology and Aesthetics of Music, will present World New Music Magazine #31, 2025, a Portugal-focused edition published by the International Society for Contemporary Music, ISCM, on 19 June 2026, at 18:00, in Auditorium 3 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon.

 Hosted by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the launch will include a round table moderated by Pedro Boléo, bringing together authors and contributors to the publication around the question:

“What is new in Portuguese music?”

Published in the wake of the ISCM World New Music Days 2025, held for the first time in Portugal, this edition brings together essays, reflections and testimonies by composers, performers, researchers and cultural agents. Rather than offering a single overview, it presents a plurality of perspectives on contemporary music creation in Portugal, its recent developments, practices, contexts and international resonances.

The magazine has been edited by Magnus Bunnskog, editor-in-chief of World New Music Magazine. The partnership with CESEM reflects the strong presence of research and critical reflection within the publication, with contributions from several of its members.

The round table will avoid individual presentations of each article, opening instead a broader conversation on the artistic, aesthetic, institutional and social questions that shape musical creation in Portugal today. The question “What is new in Portuguese music?” will serve as a common thread for discussing changing languages, listening practices, relationships with technology, circulation, memory, and the place of Portuguese music within wider international contexts.

The bilingual publication was made possible with the financial support of the ISCM, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and DGArtes – Portuguese Arts Council.

The launch will be both the public presentation of the magazine in Portugal and an opportunity for dialogue between creation, research and critical thought.
